Chapter 6 Observer
Recalling the scene in the submarine, Qin Chuan thought this was reasonable.
The so-called "golden submarine" was not transporting gold at all... In addition to the fact that submarines could not transport much gold, there was also the so-called "comeback".
Everyone knew that the possibility of Hitler's "comeback" after his failure was almost zero, and even if there was a chance, the thing that could help him make a comeback would not be gold.
Unless...
The submarine was transporting some black technology that could travel through time and space, that would be another matter... Hitler seemed to want to use this black technology to travel to the previous time and space to do it again or correct his mistakes. The terrible thing was that this black technology actually succeeded, but Hitler didn't have time to use it and Qin Chuan ran into it.
So Qin Chuan came here...
"Frick!" The baker shouted to Qin Chuan from a few meters away: "From today, you follow Joseph!"
The baker turned to Joseph and said: "Joseph, take good care of Frick, you know what to do!"
"Yes, Sergeant!" Joseph leaned forward to the baker, put the last few things into the backpack and put it on his back, then walked to Qin Chuan while adjusting the position of the backpack strap and said: "So, you are my observer!"
"Observer?" Qin Chuan was stunned, and then he noticed that the rifle on Joseph's back had a sniper scope... Joseph was a sniper.
Joseph was a regular sniper who graduated from the Berlin Sniper School. His nickname was "Trigger"... Soldiers on the battlefield always like to give their comrades simple and easy-to-call nicknames, so that they will not be unable to call out the names of people they need during combat, because nicknames are easier to remember than names, and more intuitive. For example, if they need sniper support, they will quickly think of "Trigger".
The troops continued to advance in the desert like a long snake. From time to time, several sidecars passed by. They were scouts, divided into several groups to take turns to scout in front of and around the troops to ensure that the troops would not be ambushed by the enemy.
It was very dangerous to carry out this mission, just like yesterday... The reason why the troops were ambushed was that more than 30 people in a reconnaissance platoon were all annihilated. The British obviously had such a plan from the beginning, because only in this way could they ensure that their ambushes would not be discovered in advance.
"You must point out valuable targets for me!" Trigger handed Qin Chuan a telescope while walking: "This is your weapon!"
Qin Chuan was stunned when he took the telescope, because there were still dark red bloodstains on it.
"Yes!" Trigger said: "My observer died in the last battle. A piece of shrapnel cut off half of its head, but fortunately the telescope was not broken!"
Qin Chuan couldn't help shuddering after hearing this... Compared with the tragic death of his comrades, Trigger seemed to be more concerned about the telescope, and he was going to be the next person to use this telescope.
"Do you know how to point out the target?" Trigger asked expressionlessly.
"No, I don't know!" Qin Chuan replied.
"You have to find the most critical person in the battle! It doesn't have to be an officer, it should depend on the situation. Officers are sometimes a good target, but sometimes in a small-scale battle, the command of officers is insignificant, but a machine gunner or a mortarman, or an observer... Killing them will allow us to win better and faster, understand?"
Trigger's words were very concise, which may be related to his personality, or he has told other observers who have "served" him over and over again.
"Understood!" Qin Chuan replied, and couldn't help sighing in his heart that he might be more suitable for his old job... transporting ammunition.
But Qin Chuan had no choice, he could only try to adapt to his new role.
Trigger seemed eager to pass on his rich sniping knowledge to Qin Chuan, so he continued:
"After firing, you must move whether you hit the target or not. Staying in place will only make you a target to be hunted!"
"If a target is running, you must calculate the lead time so that the bullet can hit him!"
"But how much lead time is needed?" Qin Chuan asked.
"You should know that the lead time of enemies running at different distances and speeds is different!"
"Oh!" Qin Chuan found that this was indeed a technical job, and he had not even fired a gun so far.
"You will learn it!" Trigger said coldly, looking at Qin Chuan's somewhat powerless expression.
Trigger's expression was so relaxed that Qin Chuan believed that what Trigger meant was... If he couldn't learn it, then Qin Chuan wouldn't live long.
Qin Chuan certainly knew this, and war would not give him a chance to start over. The reason why the triggerman stuffed all the things to Qin Chuan was partly because the war left them with little time and opportunity. They could not explain slowly and give the students enough time to learn and train like in school.
After thinking about it, Qin Chuan decided to take it slow. He first had to get to know his equipment:
He wore the standard uniform of the German Army: including a gray-green military jacket, a pair of gray trousers and a pair of black boots... The 5th Light Division was hastily transferred to Africa, so there was no time to change into desert clothes.
In addition, there was a belt, a helmet and an identity card hanging on a necklace... This was an oval metal identity card that could be broken into two halves. The upper and lower halves recorded the soldier's information. When a soldier died, his comrades would break off half of the identity card and take it away to notify his family.
Qin Chuan hoped that this ID card would never be used.
The collar badge with a dot on the collar of the military uniform indicated Qin Chuan's low-level rank as a private. There were two pockets on the outside of the military uniform, and an inner pocket inside, which was specially used to place personal documents. Frick's soldier ID was inside.
The belt buckle was engraved with an eagle emblem and a motto: God is with us. There were three magazine pouches on each side of the belt buckle, each of which could hold ten rounds of bullets.
There was also a shovel, which was hung on the left rear of the belt. For ease of carrying, the shovel was folded up. Needless to say, it must be used for building fortifications.
On his back was a field backpack, which could be used to place food and other items. A military water bottle and a water cup were hung next to the backpack.
One piece of equipment in the backpack made Qin Chuan a little nervous. It was a set of gas masks. In addition to a mask, there were some pills... This made Qin Chuan realize that there were frequent gas warfare and chemical warfare during World War II.
Qin Chuan was not unaware of this, but he had always studied it as a kind of knowledge. Now that he was in it, he had a different feeling.
