The Decisive Battle Against the Third Reich

Chapter 34 Survival

"Did you fire the gun?" the sergeant called Qin Chuan from a distance. He noticed that Qin Chuan was the only one holding a rifle.

"Yes!" Qin Chuan replied.

"Well done!" said the sergeant. "Maybe I should thank you for not killing me!"

"Where's Berg?" Qin Chuan asked.

The sergeant raised his head to the rear. Qin Chuan and others walked over and saw that Berg had been controlled and squatted on the ground, with his hands tied behind his back.

"What happened?" asked the sergeant.

"We got separated from the troops!" Qin Chuan explained simply: "We found out that this guy killed his men and took their water. We tried to arrest him, and then you showed up!"

"I'm sorry!" said the sergeant, "We were deceived by him!"

"Didn't you realize how dangerous it was just now?" Qin Chuan said: "When you treat us as enemies, this guy is very likely to hit you behind your back..."

The sergeant couldn't help but be stunned, then smiled bitterly and said: "So, I have died twice today!"

The sergeant contacted other units, and soon two tricycles and a car arrived. The scouts loaded Qin Chuan and others, along with Berg, into the trunk. Of course, two scouts were arranged next to Berg, watching on the left and right.

Berg seemed to know that his end had come, and he sat there in a daze with a gray face.

After a long time, he said to Qin Chuan: "Why can't you let me go? I just want to live. I still have a wife and children. I have fought for three years and made a lot of achievements!"

"Yes!" Qin Chuan replied while drinking the water handed over by the scout: "I know you want to live, but have you ever thought about your subordinates? They also want to live, and they also have wives and children. Of course I have fought in battles and made meritorious deeds!”

"But if I don't do this, everyone might die!"

"You also said, 'possible'!" Qin Chuan replied: "That's just 'possible'. In fact, if you use this half pot of water to support it for a few more hours, you and your subordinates... will be saved now, everyone !”

"But I don't know..."

"Private!" Werner became a little impatient. He said to the scout beside Berg: "Can you shut his mouth? I don't want to hear these meaningless words..."

The scout quickly took out the towel from his backpack and stuffed it into Berg's mouth.

Unable to speak, Berg could only stare at the other people in the carriage hatefully, and from time to time he would look outside the carriage as if wondering if there was any chance of escape, but he quickly gave up the idea... He didn't have any at all. There is a possibility of success, and even if you escape, you will still be dead in this desert.

The convoy quickly found the troops. When Qin Chuan and others got out of the car, the baker and others came up to them in surprise: "Look, who is back? We thought we would never see you again!"

Bushila bowed slightly to Qin Chuan and others and said, "God bless me, I will be saved if you come back alive!"

Then the baker saw Berg being brought down with his hands tied and his mouth gagged. He couldn't help but asked in confusion: "What's wrong? What happened?"

Qin Chuan did not answer, and Werner and others did not know what to say. After all, Berg was a member of the platoon, which was not a glorious thing for the army.

But even if Qin Chuan and others didn't say anything, the officers and soldiers could guess something... Everything that can happen in the desert is basically related to "water" and "survival".

Bazel and the scout sergeant walked to the side, chatting quietly, and looked here from time to time, and then Bazel's expression became very ugly.

Before the scout could finish speaking, Bazel walked up to Berg and punched him hard, knocking him to the ground. Then he kicked him and cursed: "You bastard, you are the Empire." A shame, the scum of the army!”

No one tried to stop Bazel, because everyone knew... Berg was hopeless.

After a while, Bazel got tired from playing, and went to the communication vehicle to get in touch with his superiors... Bazel couldn't make the decision in this matter, he had to report to his superiors and get orders.

But everyone knew what the command would be.

Sure enough, the order came quickly. Bazel turned to Kuhn and said: "The execution will be carried out by a platoon!"

"No!" Berg didn't know when the towel fell from his mouth, and he shouted with a cry: "Captain, don't do this! I have made meritorious deeds, and I will make meritorious deeds to atone for my sins in the future...believe me..."

Bazel walked up to Berg, grabbed Berg by his collar, and said, "Berger, die like a man, do you understand?"

Then Berg fell silent, realizing that it would be useless to shout any more.

Bazel pushed Berg towards Kuhn and said: "Execute immediately!"

"Is it here? Captain!" Kuhn asked.

"Yes, right here!" Bazel said: "In an obvious place, let the whole army see it!"

"Yes, sir!" Kun turned around and ordered Qin Chuan and others: "Gather in a row!"

All the riflemen in a row lined up and stood on the roadside. Two soldiers brought Berg, who was shaking with fear, to the front of the queue. They were thirty meters away... It was almost impossible to K98K at this distance. The shot missed, not to mention there were fifteen rifles in total.

Qin Chuan was also a member of the team. When he saw Berg's helpless eyes, he couldn't help but regret it. Was it really necessary for him to do this? Berg was just a man who wanted to live, but he pushed him into the abyss of death and cut off all his hopes.

But when he thought of the several German soldiers who died under Berg, Qin Chuan felt that it was right to do so.

In any case, everything is now a foregone conclusion, and no one can change it.

"Raise your gun!" Kuhn ordered.

After a pause, Kuhn shouted, "Shoot!"

"Bang, bang, bang" a row of bullets flew out and hit Berg, blood splattered, and Berg fell to the ground like a stake.

But he was not dead yet. He was twitching on the ground in pain, and every time he twitched, a ball of blood would spurt out of his mouth.

Kuhn walked up, perhaps to end it in the end, or perhaps to end Berg's pain, he pulled out his pistol and pointed it at Berg's head, and then pulled the trigger.

"Bang!" The sound of gunfire echoed in the desert wilderness, and it didn't stop for a long time.

It was finally over... Although the process was only a few minutes, Qin Chuan felt that a century had passed.

This was not only because it was the first time Qin Chuan killed someone at such a close distance, nor was it just because Berger was his own man, but more importantly, Berger's death was because of himself.

In a way, Berger was actually just a person who tried his best to survive in this world, and Qin Chuan was the same, as was everyone here.
