The Decisive Battle Against the Third Reich

Chapter 37 Attack

"Why do we want to occupy this broken place?" Big Bear asked.

"Because there is a road in the middle leading to Mechil!" The baker replied: "Occupying it can prevent the British from escaping, and at the same time cut off the enemy's logistics supply and reinforcements!"

Werner was stunned: "In other words, we may have to face enemies in two directions? And we only have one regiment?"

"Yes!" The baker replied.

"This is crazy!" Werner said: "We can't do it, especially in this terrain!"

"Is our commander crazy? If we defend in this terrain, we will become targets for British tanks!"

The baker replied: "You know, our commander is Rommel. When has he ever been normal?"

The soldiers were speechless when they heard this, because they all knew Rommel's past... That guy captured 400 Romanian soldiers with 20 people in World War I, captured the high ground where 1,200 Italian soldiers were stationed with 100 people, and captured 150 Italian officers and about 9,000 Italian soldiers with a company.

The German soldiers were thinking: Rommel must have created glory in World War I, so he thought others could do the same. Therefore, the strength and equipment were not a problem in Rommel's eyes... You know, a company can defeat tens of thousands of Italians, so now a regiment is stationed in Tengetel, isn't it a piece of cake?

While the German soldiers were talking, Qin Chuan was thinking about a problem.

Originally, he was not worried about this battle, because the first regiment had never attacked Tengetel in history... The reason is as mentioned before, the first regiment lost more than half of its troops in the desert, and almost all its heavy equipment and ammunition were discarded, so the only thing they could do was to find the main force of the German army and join them.

In fact, the first regiment at that time, let alone attacking Tengetel, was so fragile that any British army unit could easily annihilate them after they walked out of the desert.

But now the situation is different.

Qin Chuan has changed all this. Now the regiment is not just for self-preservation. They are almost fully staffed, and heavy equipment and accompanying ammunition have not been discarded, so they will not give up the mission to find the main force...

Qin Chuan did not think of this before, until now when facing Tengteng, he suddenly realized that he seemed to have done something stupid and dragged himself into an abyss.

But then again, if Qin Chuan did nothing before, perhaps he would have been dried up in the desert.

In fact, it is not only Qin Chuan and the German soldiers who are troubled by this. Colonel Collain, the commander of the regiment, also felt very embarrassed after seeing Tengteng.

He even sent a telegram to Rommel, and described in detail in the telegram that the terrain of Tengteng was not suitable for defense...If the regiment attacked Tengteng as planned, it would be very likely to be attacked from both sides by the British army and annihilated.

"We didn't do a good job of intelligence work!" Colonel Collain said to the staff: "Before this, we didn't even know that Tengetenger was such a place!"

"You know, Colonel!" The staff replied: "Compared to the war, the Italians are more concerned about their noodles. Their intelligence is always wrong, and the map is no exception!"

This is true. Not long ago, when the Italian army fought with the British army, there was a gap of dozens of kilometers wide in the Italian defense line, and the Italian army didn't know it... The British army easily broke through this gap and penetrated into the rear of the Italian army.

When Rommel heard about this, he said: "God, that is a gap of dozens of kilometers wide. How did the Italians ignore its existence?"

But as Colonel Collain guessed, his explanation in the telegram would not have any effect.

Soon Rommel called back: "The British have been defeated under our attack. Capture and defend it. Now, victory belongs to us!"

"Defeated?" Collain expressed doubts about this. Rommel seemed too optimistic.

Collain, who had fought with the British several times, knew very well that his troops had no weapons that could deal with the British "Matilda" tanks... The PAK36 anti-tank gun was simply a decoration.

Therefore, as long as the British army dispatched a tank battalion, they could easily crush a group of tanks under the tracks like crushing a puppy.

But Collain had no choice, he had to obey orders, so he ordered: "Attack, obey orders!"

The order to attack came down quickly, and Qin Chuan couldn't help but secretly groan in his heart. What he was worried about finally happened.

Although he was unwilling, Qin Chuan still made the final battle preparations with the soldiers. He had no other choice.

"Sergeant!" Alfredo walked to Qin Chuan, his face pale: "I have completed my mission, I can not participate in this battle!"

"Where can you go? Captain!" Qin Chuan checked his rifle and answered: "You know, we are now infiltrating the enemy's rear, there are enemies everywhere!"

"I don't know!" Alfredo spread his hands: "But at least we don't have to go to the battlefield, right?"

Qin Chuan looked at Alfredo and suddenly realized that the enemy was not a threat to Alfredo at all, because he was a pacifist and he could surrender.

Qin Chuan shook his head, loaded the magazine for his rifle, and then loaded another bullet, saying: "I advise you to give up this idea, Captain, you are safe only if you stay with us!"

"Why?" Alfredo said: "Now I am just a burden to you, isn't it?"

"I agree with this!" Qin Chuan tied the kettle tightly around his waist, he didn't want the shaking kettle to hinder the action.

"Then why can't you let me go?" Alfredo begged in his tone: "At least mention it to the second lieutenant!"

"Because you know too much!" Qin Chuan replied: "For example, how many people we have, how many heavy weapons we have, and even some of our combat missions... Think about Burge, do you think they will let you leave the army alive and surrender to the British?"

Alfredo's face turned pale.

"So..." Qin Chuan asked: "Do you still want me to mention it to the second lieutenant?"

"No, no..." Alfredo shook his head hard.

Qin Chuan patted Alfredo on the shoulder, then shouted to the machine gunner not far away: "Bowen, give him your pistol, he needs a weapon for self-defense!"

"Yes, Sergeant!" Bowen handed the pistol to Alfredo.

Alfredo was stunned for a moment, then hesitantly took the pistol.
