Chapter 20: Transfiguration
Draco was stunned, not only him, but also everyone else in the classroom.
What no one noticed was that the pupils of the cat on the podium also shrank slightly, as if someone had stepped on its tail.
They didn't expect Aaron to do this for a Gryffindor girl. This was a favor given in the name of the family.
If this favor is used well, it can even play a considerable role in the future. The favor of a hidden magic family is not a joke.
"How about it, do you agree to make this bet with me?" Aaron asked confidently, he was sure that Draco would not refuse.
"Agree, how could I not agree?
But, Aaron, are you serious?"
"I believe in my vision. Hermione's background may not be noble, but she is definitely the best wizard I have ever seen.
But before the end of this semester, I ask you to respect Hermione a little. You can always do this!"
"Okay, no problem." Draco said happily.
After dealing with Draco, Aaron walked up to Hermione and said, "Now you can calm down! I gave you a fair chance to prove yourself."
"Yeah!" Hermione nodded and asked nervously, "What if I disappoint you? I mean, what if I lose..."
"You won't lose. You may be only a little bit weaker than me in learning."
"But what if?" Hermione said. This was the first time in her life that she doubted her ability.
"Don't worry about this. Even if you lose, Draco will be much more restrained. At least he won't insult people casually with the word "mudblood".
As for the family's favor, it doesn't matter. Malfoy can see the situation more clearly than anyone else. They won't make any unreasonable demands."
"Thank you." Hermione said with a red face, and then returned Abe to Aaron.
"Draco is actually not a bad person. He was just instilled with too many ideas related to bloodline by his father since he was a child, so he may be a little arrogant. It is estimated that he will not be able to change for a while. I hope you don't mind."
After Aaron finished speaking, he walked to another Gryffindor and said, "This classmate, what is your name?"
"Susan Bones." The girl blushed and said a little embarrassedly.
"Okay! I don't want this bet to be known to others. You should be able to keep it a secret!"
Susan kept nodding, indicating that she would never tell anyone.
"Thank you."
Time passed by minute by minute, and the students gradually arrived in the classroom and opened their books to start self-study. The strange thing is that even when it was time for class, Professor McGonagall did not appear.
At this time, the door of the classroom was suddenly opened, and Harry and Ron ran in in a panic.
"Finally, we are here. If we came a little later, her face would be scary." Ron said with some relief.
The moment the voice fell, a cat on the podium jumped down and turned into Professor McGonagall in a green robe.
She walked straight to the two of them and looked at the two late students with interest.
"This is really brilliant." Ron said blankly, not knowing whether he meant Professor McGonagall's Transfiguration or using Transfiguration to block them.
"Thank you for your evaluation, Mr. Weasley.
Maybe I should turn Mr. Potter and you into a pocket watch, so that at least one of you can keep time."
"We are lost." Harry said.
"Then turn it into a map." Professor McGonagall said bluntly, "You don't need a map to go to your seat!"
The two smiled bitterly at each other and sat at an empty table.
"Now that everyone is here, let's start the class.
Transfiguration is the most complicated and dangerous magic you have learned in Hogwarts." Professor McGonagall said, and then she glared at Ron and Harry, "If anyone makes trouble in my class, I will ask him to leave and never let him come in again."
Aaron's face was a little strange, and so were Draco, Hermione and others. After all, although there was no problem with the bet between them, it was a little different with a professor who knew about it. At least the pressure on both sides would be a little greater.
"Professor, that..." Aaron hesitated, wanting to say something but stopping.
"I don't know what happened before the class. Do you understand how to deal with your own affairs?" Professor McGonagall said with a smile.
"I understand." Aaron nodded, relieved.
Professor McGonagall began to lecture. Magic is not just waving a wand and reciting a spell.
She talked about the theory for a long time, and checked the notes of several students by the way. After confirming that there was no problem, she began to experiment with Transfiguration.
Professor McGonagall waved her wand gently, and the matchbox on the desk was opened, and the matches inside flew onto every student's desk.
"Everyone, try to see if you can turn this match into a needle before the get out of class is over."
After the words fell, every student drew out their wands, eager to try.
But the effect was not as good as they thought, and most people's matches did not move at all.
Hermione tried several times in a row, and the match gradually turned into a toothpick. Although it was a bit weird, it at least changed the match.
"Very good, Miss Granger." Professor McGonagall praised.
Draco glanced at Hermione, a hint of stubbornness flashed in his eyes, and then waved his wand more vigorously.
The match soon changed, and the tail began to become pointed, but before he could be happy, smoke came out of the tip of the match, and a small flame suddenly lit up, and then quickly extinguished.
"Mr. Malfoy, your performance is also good, but it would be better if you could control your emotions a little bit." Professor McGonagall smiled.
Draco did not speak, but just stared at the match that was almost a quarter burned and sighed deeply.
He had tried his best, at least better than most students including Harry Potter, but he also knew that he probably couldn't beat Granger, the Mudblood, in Transfiguration. But there were other things. There were so many courses in school, and he didn't believe that he would be outdone by a little girl everywhere.
At this time, he noticed another match on the table, and looked at Aaron who was playing with the cat with some surprise, "Don't you want to try?"
"Sorry, I just saw you trying hard." Aaron gently waved his wand and tapped the match.
The next moment, the shape of the match changed, the two sides began to become sharp rapidly, the middle was also shrinking rapidly, and there was a small needle hole at the tail.
Although it was still made of wood, it was at least a wooden needle.
"You... this... is amazing, you succeeded in one go." Draco said incoherently.
Professor McGonagall came over after hearing the noise. When she saw the wooden needle on the table, she showed a trace of joy. "It seems that Slytherin has received a very talented student this year.
Aaron Gaius? Five points for Slytherin."
Professor McGonagall's voice was very clear, and everyone in the classroom could hear it. They all looked at Aaron with envy.
"Thank you, professor, but can you teach me to turn it into iron?"
"I'm afraid that won't work. I believe in your talent, but it's not something a freshman should do to be too ambitious." Professor McGonagall smiled, and then turned the wooden needle back into a match. "Before that, you need to thoroughly master the magic of changing the appearance of objects. Keep practicing!"
"Okay!" Aaron nodded with some regret, and then waved his wand again, turning the match into a wooden chicken leg and throwing it in front of the pet.
Abe was immediately excited, and hurriedly jumped in front of the chicken leg, and then sniffed it with his nose.
Snap!
After a moment, Abe showed an angry expression, and a white dragon claw slapped down, smashing the chicken leg into its original shape, and leaving a shallow claw mark on the table.
"Wow!" Professor McGonagall looked at the scene in amazement, "I think I may have to take back what I said just now, Mr. Gaius, you have already entered the field of Transfiguration.
But..."
Professor McGonagall pointed at Abe, who was harmless and even grimaced in pain because of excessive force when slapping the table, with her wand, "Are you sure it's just an ordinary cat?"
"Uh..." Aaron immediately hugged Abe in his arms, "Of course, I'm very sure."
