Chapter 97 The Other Side of Tom Riddle
The other side of Riddle
The golden eagle spread its wings and flew over the sparkling sea, smashing the waves that hit it in the face.
Not long after, the high-flying eagle saw the coastline in the distance.
He was back in England again.
In the sky, from time to time, a lone Soul Eater could be seen wandering. Two escapees suddenly appeared in Azkaban, and Fudge almost let them all out.
A large number of Soul Eaters wandered over the city, making the sky of the whole London suddenly dark, and the gray clouds looked like a sketch heavily smeared with a pencil. Even the temperature dropped by several degrees.
This is probably the lowest temperature summer in the UK in decades.
The city was filled with low-temperature condensed water mist, which seemed to have suddenly made the city return to decades ago and turned back into the "fog city", but compared to that time, London is at least much cleaner now.
The London in Cyrus' memory is still the same as Riddle had seen when he was young. The fog was thick, the roads were full of filth, insects and rats were wandering in the wet sewers, and the ground was sticky, as if a bucket of Coke had been poured on all the ground.
This place was not much cleaner than the secret passage leading to Slytherin's Chamber of Secrets.
Based on Riddle's memory alone, Cyrus thought that his hatred of Muggles was justified.
He grew up in an orphanage, especially in that era, children from such places rarely had a promising future. Most of them became gangsters, no different from rats in the gutter.
Not having read books and being illiterate is actually nothing, but more children have learned bad things in their teens. Most of them will become low-class hooligans in the neighborhood, like porcupines covered with thorns struggling in the mud.
Most importantly, they could not accept Riddle, and Riddle also disdained to mix with them.
However, when they faced Riddle, an alien in their group, their instinctive exclusivity would not allow them to get along safely. They would not want to see Riddle, who was supposed to be as humble as them, encounter a turnaround.
Not to mention Riddle's previous attitude towards them.
And sadly, Riddle, who was already attending Hogwarts at the time, suddenly lost all his deterrence against these Muggle children.
- He was forbidden to use magic.
And this constraint was very useful to him. Riddle never wanted to be forced to leave the magical world.
Not many people would have thought that Voldemort, who had terrifying magic power and brought the shadow of death and fear to people, was always scarred every time he returned to school.
Voldemort's past as Riddle flashed back in front of Cyrus.
Dumbledore tried to teach Riddle that he should not do bad things, but he used the wrong method and did not consider the future.
The fear of others when he had magical power, his helplessness after encountering a stronger power, and the bullying when he did not dare to use his power...
All this made Riddle more convinced that magic is power!
Of course, this is not Dumbledore's fault, and it should not be an excuse for Riddle.
Cyrus' mood became slightly depressed. He felt as if he was watching a gray pantomime movie. The absurd scenes were like Chaplin's classic comedy, but they made people feel sad.
He knew that this was the magic of the "fog". The Soul Eaters hidden in the fog were like greedy blood-sucking worms, sucking away the happy emotions of people. Even he was affected a little.
So Cyrus immediately closed his brain and stopped Riddle's memories from attacking and eroding him.
His amber pupils reflected the ugly shadow of the Soul Eater.
These guys abused their power for personal gain. Such a huge world outside was like a buffet restaurant where they could eat as they pleased. But at least now, they were still restrained and did not attack Muggles directly, just making them feel a little depressed.
Aurors were also patrolling around the Muggle and wizard worlds.
Of course, in comparison, they were more worried about Sirius. In their eyes, the "Death Eater" who killed more than a dozen people at once was far more harmful than Cyrus.
But even so, if the Aurors saw Cyrus, there was no reason not to arrest him.
Cyrus really wanted to catch another Soul Eater to study.
The last Soul Eater he caught died under his mutated Patronus Charm, and he didn't have time to do more magic research. But it was obviously not appropriate now.
If the Aurors of the Ministry of Magic saw an eagle attacking the Soul Eater in public, then even a fool would think that there was something wrong with the eagle.
Cyrus hovered in the sky for a circle, found a hidden corner and changed back to his original appearance.
With a flick of his wrist, the wand fell from his sleeve.
Generally speaking, Animagus shapeshifters can turn their clothes into animal fur, but it is impossible to turn their wands into part of their bodies.
They either hide their wands in advance or simply hold them in their mouths.
But Cyrus broke this iron rule. When he performed the Animagus transformation, he turned his wand into a feather on his body.
He landed softly, but still attracted the attention of the Azkaban guards.
It seemed that a Soul Eater was patrolling in the alley not far away. After hearing the noise, it immediately rushed over here.
Cyrus used his magic wand to gently brush his face. The muscles on his face were bulging as if he had drunk a compound potion. When Cyrus raised his head again, he had changed into a different look.
Even his clothes changed from a loose robe to a set of straight suits under his magic.
He raised his chin and tugged at his tie, ignoring the Soul Eater that kept approaching him. He just pretended to shrink his body when passing by it, and then continued to walk straight and openly out of the narrow alley.
There were several Aurors patrolling nearby on the street. They were all dressed as Muggles. After all, they were well-trained Aurors and would not make too outrageous mistakes in clothing.
However, Cyrus still saw their wands inserted at their waists.
He walked in front of them calmly.
He clearly felt that the Auror's eyes stayed on him for a long time. But he was not flustered at all. He walked into the subway entrance and passed through the subway gates as skillfully as any other Muggle.
This series of operations immediately dispelled any suspicion of the Aurors about him.
Or rather, there was no suspicion from the beginning.
