Chapter 130 Gringotts
Before going to Gringotts, Cyrus planned to buy some things first.
He changed into another face, went into a store, and spent some gold galleons to buy a box. Like most boxes used by wizards, this box was also cast with the traceless extension spell. The space inside the box was surprisingly large.
But in Cyrus's opinion, it was still not big enough.
He needed a wilderness, mountains, and even sunrise and moonset.
Otherwise, he would not be able to put the dragon he got before into the box. In fact, until now, the dragon was still kept in a mountain range by Cyrus.
"I have to transform it myself." Cyrus sighed.
This is not difficult for him, but it is very troublesome. He put this matter aside, and there are obviously more important things for him to do now.
He went to the Leaky Cauldron to find the old wizard named Tom, opened a room, put the box in it, and ate something. Then he returned to Diagon Alley through the wall and walked towards Gringotts.
Gringotts is the most conspicuous building in Diagon Alley.
Apparently goblins think they need to use gold to show their wealth.
Of all the shops in Diagon Alley, it is the tallest and whitest. The outer wall is probably made of white marble, and the door is made of copper, shining in the sun.
In Gringotts, even a waiter is dressed very luxuriously. The short goblin standing at the door is wearing a scarlet uniform with gold trim, which really looks like that.
When Cyrus approached, he bowed to Cyrus, but did not say anything welcoming.
The floor of Gringotts is also white and gold, which makes it look like pure white jade instead of marble. After passing through the copper door, there is a second door inside. This door is silver with words engraved on both sides.
Although Cyrus was in Gringotts for the first time, he had already known those words by heart, and he did not take them to heart at all - he came here for the wealth that did not belong to him.
But on the other hand, he did have the key to vault No. 12.
After passing through the silver door, there was a huge marble hall, where hundreds of goblins sat. They were all dressed in suits and sat on high stools, which allowed them, who were short in stature, to look down on any wizard who came here.
Not looking at them straight, but looking down. This was obviously the arrogance of the goblins.
Cyrus felt that their behavior was very ridiculous.
As losers in the struggle with wizards, they seemed to think that this would restore their self-esteem and that they could trample wizards under their feet.
But on the other hand, so many sub-human races, centaurs, giants...
They have more powerful power than goblins, but their lives today are very unbearable compared to goblins. Greed is despised by people, but it really allows them to live a good life, so that many goblins even have a sense of superiority. They look down on wizards and think they are more noble.
Facts tell us that if you want to get rights, you must fight with blood.
And it will continue!
From this aspect, Cyrus actually admired them, but they were from different standpoints. People always have double standards. As a person and a wizard, he naturally stood from the perspective of a wizard.
"Welcome, sir--" a fairy waiter came over and half bowed.
"I'm going to vault No. 12." Cyrus' words made the waiter, no, it should be said that the movements of the fairies in the entire hall paused for a moment.
The rustling sound of the feather pen writing on the parchment disappeared, and the fairy who put the gem on the scale also stopped his movements. The scale was crooked, and a ruby as big as a pigeon egg rolled all the way to Cyrus' feet.
The fairies exchanged glances quickly and soon returned to their previous state.
"Where is the key, sir?"
Cyrus handed him the key to vault No. 12.
The waiter handed the key to a fairy wearing a single lens sitting in the middle of the hall. The goblin looked a bit old, with a pale beard. He looked at it carefully for a long time before speaking:
"The key is real, Griphook - you take him there!"
Then, a goblin that Cyrus was very familiar with came out. He had a high forehead, gray hair, and was only as tall as Cyrus' waist.
"Go this way, sir." Griphook led Cyrus to a platinum door. There were many similar doors here, and each one looked almost the same.
Seemingly seeing Cyrus's confusion, Griphook said, "These different doors lead to different underground areas. Of course, there is only one space, but the tracks are different. The ancient vaults like Vault 12 are at the front."
The door he led Cyrus to was very close to the front. At this time, Cyrus noticed that several goblins left in a hurry, and their eyes glanced at Cyrus from time to time.
Griphook opened the door. The inside of the door was completely different from the magnificent Gringotts. After stepping through it, there was a huge, dark and damp underground cave. The black tracks were like huge snakes winding around the rock wall, extending to different caves.
"Get on the car." Griphook waited for a cart that could slide on the track. There were no safety measures on it. It looked like a shabby old thing used to transport goods in the mine.
Gringotts charges a management fee for every vault they open. The goblins use the money to raise dragons, set up waterfalls to prevent thieves, and provide adequate security, but they don't care about the experience of saving money.
The main point is that it works.
Cyrus and Griphook walked onto the trolley together. A long handrail was buckled down, which was the only safety measure. Griphook pulled the joystick, and the cart started moving on its own.
It was very fast, and the iron wheels left a cluster of sparks on the track and made a loud noise.
Cyrus felt like he was riding a roller coaster and was about to be thrown out.
He felt that he had been in the car for at least ten minutes, so he was a little suspicious of how deep the underground of Gringotts was. He felt that the cart had driven at least ten kilometers.
They might have dug out the underground of London.
But on second thought, it might also be the traceless extension spell. After all, Gringotts was not controlled by goblins at the beginning.
Just as he was thinking, a huge splash of water suddenly hit Cyrus in the face. Cyrus quickly lowered his head and covered his face with his hands. He could feel his wet features returning to their original handsome appearance. But fortunately, the light in the cave was very dim, and Griphook's attention was focused on the front, so he didn't notice this.
"Sorry, sir, this is the anti-thief waterfall, one of Gringotts's protective measures, which can wash away the power of magic." Griphook said. He didn't seem to feel sorry for getting his customers wet, but was very proud.
The anti-thief waterfall is indeed a great invention.
"Can any magic be washed away?" Cyrus asked while wiping the water off his face calmly.
"What?"
"I mean, even the power of the Killing Curse will be washed away?"
Griphook shuddered and answered angrily: "No, sir. It is mainly for Transfiguration, Confusion and Imperius to prevent us from being controlled by malicious wizards."
He turned his head to look at Cyrus, as if he was afraid that Cyrus would do something irrational. Fortunately, Cyrus had changed his face back at this time, so he didn't find anything wrong.
"Even magic is not absolute, sir."
They ended this unpleasant conversation. On the way, Griphook stopped the car once, reported to the goblin guarding the ancient vault, and then continued to move forward.
I don't know how long it took, Griphook pulled the brake.
Cyrus felt that the wheels below were braked forcibly, but the car was still moving fast due to inertia. The sparks from the friction between the wheels and the rails were like the tail flame of a comet.
"Zi——"
The sharp sound pierced the eardrum.
"We're there!"
The car stopped. Griphook jumped down and landed on a metal-supported platform.
An ancient door appeared before Cyrus' eyes.
