Red Soviet Union

Chapter 142 Fighting Again

Although it looks strange, the combat effectiveness of this aircraft should not be underestimated. For air combat, the early warning aircraft is a multiplier of air combat force!

After World War II, both the United States and the Soviet Union vigorously developed early warning aircraft, moving radars into the sky to illuminate the ground directly, making it impossible for fighter planes that penetrated at ultra-low altitudes to escape.

Moreover, the Soviet Union and the United States have begun to develop the second-generation early warning aircraft. The American E-3 and the Soviet Il-76 early warning aircraft are about to be finalized and equipped to the troops. This old generation of early warning aircraft will soon withdraw from the stage of history. Of course, it is still the most important electronic force now. After the 24th Division reported its needs, Moscow also carefully considered it before transferring this early warning aircraft from Eastern Europe.

The Tu-126 was designed in 1960, first flown in 1962, and was deployed to the army in the late 1960s. In the 1971 India-Pakistan War, the Tu-126 was sent to India to participate in the war.

The Tu-126 radar has an operating range of about 370 kilometers and uses delayed-line fixed target cancellation technology. It has sea-look-down and limited land-look-down capabilities and can serve as an airborne guidance and command station for interceptors or ground attack aircraft.

(The delay line fixed target cancellation technology was adopted due to the limitation of early radar signal processing capabilities. There are densely packed delay lines of different lengths on the radar antenna, which is quite a test for welders. The early models of the American E-3 also used this technology. Modern radars are already phased array radars, such as our big plate, the No. 1 project.)

The Tu-126 flew on a circular route in the north of Sakhalin Island, escorted by two MiG-23 fighters on both sides, which was very safe.

At this time, inside the early warning aircraft, the personnel were highly concentrated. In the small and stuffy cockpit, they stared closely at the radar screen in front of them.

"In northern Hokkaido, four fighter jets are flying towards our airspace." An early warning personnel said calmly while looking at the display on the screen.

The fighter jets that took off from the Hokkaido base must be those of the island nation's Self-Defense Forces, probably F-4 fighter jets. Later, a large number of aircraft were observed flying at ultra-low altitudes in southern Hokkaido.

"There are still enemy planes behind us, about twenty of them, breaking through at a very low altitude."

"A strong radiation source was detected over the Oshima Peninsula in southern Hokkaido. It was determined to be an enemy early warning aircraft. The other party was flying on the east-west route."

"Received, proceed according to the original plan!" A calm voice came from the radio.

Original plan! These days, the air defense divisions on Sakhalin Island have been preparing for war, and several sets of tactics have been practiced to perfection. Now, the Americans are attacking according to Andre's estimate. A carefully designed battle is unfolding!

As the planner of this operation, Andre did not stay in the base in the rear. At this time, he took off the goggles on his helmet, piloted his Eagle, took off from the runway, and began to climb rapidly.

Behind Andre, another fighter plane No. 027 piloted by Lieutenant Alexander also took off. There were only two lonely fighter planes in this base, because this was not the air force base on Sakhalin Island, but the Petrel Flight Base on Iturupu Island in the east! This base usually only had two flights per week to and from Sakhalin Island, and there were not many aviation units stationed there.

Speaking of Iturupu Island, perhaps not many people know it. It has another name. The islanders call it Etorofu Island! In the maps of the islanders, this is the fifth largest island in the island country. Of course, now, like Kunashir Island, it is already Soviet territory!

Lieutenants Andre and Alexander will undertake an important mission, they will give the Americans the most powerful blow!

Just after the two planes took off, some large aircraft were pulled out from the base's hangar and prepared for takeoff.

Although there are usually no aircraft stationed here, it does not mean that this place is not important! As a large island close to an island country, this is an important Soviet reserve military base!

At the same time, at the Kamenny-Iruchii base on Sakhalin Island, the MiG-25 and Su-15 fighters responsible for interception missions were taking off quickly.

Taking off together with these fighter planes was another peculiarly shaped plane with a pointed nose and a large observation window under the nose, just like a bomber. Under the wings, there was a jet engine on each side, just like the shape of a first-generation jet plane. This plane was painted blue, and when it was pulled up and the landing gear was retracted, dense antennas were revealed under the belly.

Yak-28! This is a fighter-bomber designed by the Yak Design Bureau. Unfortunately, it is already old and is about to be eliminated in the Soviet Air Force equipment sequence. At this time, the Yak Design Bureau is also struggling to survive in the gap between the MiG and Sukhoi Design Bureaus.

Although the Yak-28 is an old aircraft, the one in front of us is definitely not a piece of junk dragged out of the warehouse! It is a magic weapon in the Soviet equipment sequence!

Yak-28PP "Conspirator" E, the Soviet Union's first dedicated electronic jammer! It was just equipped in 1970. The bomb bay of the Yak-28 light bomber was equipped with SPS-1, SPS-2 wide-band clutter jammers and two AS0-28 automatic chaff jettisoning devices; the tail was equipped with a "Siren" I radar warning receiver; the cockpit had an electronic warfare control panel; and the belly had a clutter jammer radiator.

This aircraft can perform both long-range electronic support jamming and close-range and accompanying jamming, and its performance is comparable to that of the US EA-6B.

Andrei keenly discovered that the Americans did not even use electronic jammers in this operation! Perhaps the Air Force's EF-111 had not yet been finalized, and the US Air Force did not like to use Navy equipment. In addition, the Americans thought that the performance of their fighters was already high enough, so they did not need electronic jammers to provide electromagnetic suppression.

In modern warfare, electromagnetic power is the most important!

The Tu-126 early warning aircraft and the Yak-28pp electronic jammer were both obtained at Andre's strong suggestion, and now they are playing an important role!

The MiG-25 fighters rushed to the front relying on the powerful engine thrust. Due to the transfer of 032 and 027, they only had eight fighters left. At this time, these eight MiG-25s will rush to the front line and disrupt the Americans' combat deployment!

The four Japanese fighter planes in front are just here to make up the numbers. These fighter planes will be left to the Su-15 interceptors behind and the MiG-23 that took off later to deal with!

Attack the F-15 fleet behind the Americans! Let the Americans have a taste of the power of the MiG-25!

The Yak-28PP behind it did not fly towards the front line after taking off, but flew north. At the same time, the electronic jammer inside the fuselage was running at full power.
