Red Soviet Union

Chapter 166 New Goal

It is a basic military common sense that food and fodder should be sent before troops move. But this time, the Soviet army took a risk.

In the first wave, two divisions were transported here, and even the division's fuel supply vehicles were transported here to accompany the armored forces. However, it was impossible for the refueling trucks to return to the port and wait for fuel supply after venturing hundreds of kilometers deep into the interior of Hokkaido.

Therefore, after arriving at the Chitose base and occupying it, there are two options for continuing to obtain fuel supplies: either accept the fuel delivered by transport planes, or resupply on site.

Fortunately, this is the base camp of the Hokkaido garrison of the island country, with countless underground oil depots, and the fuel from the islanders' private gas stations can also be requisitioned.

The most fuel-consuming tank is the T-64 main battle tank. This tank uses the 5TDF engine, which is a two-stroke engine. It is small in size, powerful, strong and durable. However, the defects of the two-stroke engine make this engine very fuel-consuming.

Now, the 42nd Tank Regiment occupied the Chitose base, and after successfully resolving the battle, found the base's oil depot.

Compared with the tanks used by the army, the planes used by the air force are even more fuel-guzzling monsters. Every time a fighter plane takes off and lands, the fuel consumed is calculated in tons.

As the most important base in Hokkaido, Chitose Base stores a large amount of fuel, more than a thousand tons!

"Hurry up, refuel!" Nicholas watched the tank drive to the outside of the oil depot. Under the action of the fuel pump, a steady stream of fuel was flowing into the tank's fuel tank through the oil pipeline.

The air was filled with the smell of kerosene.

"Okay, next one!" shouted the soldier in charge of refueling. The equipment of this air force is really powerful. The oil pump pressure is very high. In less than a minute, the fuel tank of the T-64 tank was filled.

You know, the equipment here was originally provided to the tanker trucks, which would be transferred to the aircraft after the tanker trucks were filled up. Now, directly refueling the tanks is simply overkill.

"Understood!" The tank driver was delighted. He lowered his head and turned the fuel selection switch on the panel to the kerosene position.

"Buzz, buzz." As the button was pressed, the compressed air starter turned rapidly, two streams of black smoke came out of the tank's exhaust pipe, and a rumbling sound was made smoothly.

Startup successful!

Pushing the gear lever, the T-64 rumbled into action and drove out of the refueling station. Behind it, another tank drove up.

The ammunition truck had enough bullets in it. After filling up the fuel, it began to replenish the ammunition. Soon, the 42nd Tank Regiment was in the best condition again!

This is also the advantage of the engine. The multi-fuel hybrid engine greatly facilitates logistics supply!

During World War II, Western tanks were mainly powered by gasoline engines. The tank soldiers at the time were very miserable. Once their tanks were hit, they would be immediately burned to death by the ignited gasoline. Soviet tanks were powered by diesel engines and could not be ignited by open flames. Moreover, although diesel engines had low power, they had high torque and were fuel-efficient, which greatly facilitated logistical supplies.

After the war, the continuous research on engines has led to the emergence of multi-fuel hybrid engines. For example, the current T-64 tank mainly uses diesel, but when there is no diesel, gasoline and kerosene can be used. This engine uses a three-position injection pump coupling to adjust the injection advance angle and fuel supply. The basic principle of this three-position injection pump coupling is the same as the summer and winter two-position coupling of the B-55 diesel engine. The three positions are 35° before the top dead center (diesel, summer), 32° (winter), and 36-40° (gasoline). At the same time, a three-position support head is used on the gear rod support head structure of the injection pump, that is, when burning diesel, kerosene, and gasoline, they are adjusted to different positions respectively, so as to achieve the purpose of burning different fuels while the engine power and working conditions are relatively ideal.

For ordinary engines, it is very tragic to add the wrong oil, but tank engines can use multiple fuels! In extreme cases, they can even be mixed. This has obvious advantages for logistical supply during combat. You can add whatever oil is available and go!

"Commander, the order from the division headquarters has come down, asking us to continue moving forward and capture Otaru Port!" Just after the 42nd Division completed its combat readiness, Commander Nicholas received a new order.

"Received, we'll set off immediately!" Nicholas picked up the radio and said, "Attention, everyone, continue the attack!"

Otaru Port! Located in the west of Sapporo, bordering the Sea of Japan to the west, it is an important port in Hokkaido. Occupying this port is of even greater significance. The Soviet navy no longer needs to go around to Kushiro, but can directly sail across the Sea of Japan and anchor here!

Although Sapporo was in the middle, it was already empty and there were few troops stationed there. Moreover, the islanders would never anticipate the direction of the Soviet army's attack!

From the very beginning of this war, the Japanese people have been confused and don’t even know the Soviet Union’s strategic purpose!

The war was started by the Americans. If there had not been the invasion of the passenger plane on Sakhalin Island, there would have been no retaliatory actions today. After landing at Kushiro Port, the Americans still thought that the Soviet Union only wanted to occupy a bridgehead, and even proposed territorial claims on the Kushiro-Rumoi line, which was absolutely nonsense!

As a result, the Soviets launched a massive attack and actually captured Chitose!

"Quick, immediately order the 7th Division to return to support, and we must recapture Chitose before dawn!" In the brightly lit building of the Island Defense Agency in Shinjuku District, Tokyo, a firm voice said.

The island nation that occupied half of Asia during World War II has long since lived up to its former glory. After the island nation surrendered in World War II, its army was disbanded and its military institutions were abolished. It was not until the outbreak of the Korean War that the United States re-armed the island nation, established a 75,000-man national police reserve in 1950, and increased the number of the Coast Guard by 8,000. In 1953, Kyrgyzstan established a security agency, changed the police reserve into a security team, expanded the number of troops to 110,000, and established a new maritime security team.

Until 1955, in order to adapt to the changes in the US Far East strategy, the island government promulgated the "Defense Agency Establishment Law" and the "Self-Defense Force Law", changing the Security Force into the Ground Self-Defense Force, the Guard Force into the Maritime Self-Defense Force, and establishing the Air Self-Defense Force. Its mission is to maintain domestic security and defend against direct or indirect foreign aggression.

From this time on, the right-wing forces in the island country began to become increasingly rampant.

Now, relying on the support of the United States, the island nation's Self-Defense Forces have developed into an important military force in the Far East. It can even be said that its military strength has once again surpassed that of China across the border. Under the peaceful guise of the Self-Defense Forces, it can become a tool for launching war at any time.

Now, it's the Self-Defense Forces' turn to play a role!
