Mysteries of the Earthsea

Chapter 209 Predicament

Gunshots, cursing, and the shaking of ships continued.

The atmosphere on the whole ship became tense, and the crew members fought fiercely with these half-man, half-fish deep divers.

Facing the crew's firearm attacks, the deep divers counterattacked with strange weapons made of various corals. Most of them are melee weapons, but there are also long-range weapons.

"Whoosh~" A spear with a rope shot over and pierced a sailor's stomach. The rope collapsed and pulled the screaming sailor's exposed intestines, dragging them towards them.

The next second, the rope slackened, and the head of the deep diver who was pulling the rope was shot in the head by Charles.

Although the deep divers looked terrifying, they were not as powerful as the other island natives that Charles had encountered. For a while, the two sides were evenly matched.

But as time went by, Charles was at a disadvantage overall. There were endless underwater deep divers, and as long as one crew member was injured, there would be one less.

Charles knew that this was not the way to go. He kicked the monster in front of him away, rushed to the side of the deck gun, and skillfully reloaded.

"Boom!" The cannon sounded, and a thick tentacle on the ship was directly blown into two sections, and the Narwhal suddenly lifted it.

The cannons continued, the tentacles were quickly interrupted, and the ship finally returned to freedom.

"Man, let's go!! Get out of this place first!!"

The narwhal began to speed up, and she shuttled above the city of the deep divers like a speedboat.

On the deck, Charles led the crew to clean up the remaining deep divers, and they retreated steadily without backup.

Just when Charles shot a diver in the heart, a black shadow rushed over from his lower left.

Almost subconsciously, Charles pulled the trigger over there.

"Ding!" The bullet was unexpectedly blocked by the dagger in its hand. Ordinary deep divers are definitely not so agile. That's Dipper.

The former boatswain slammed into Charles hard, and flew him towards the sea next to him. "Captain! Trust me once!! I'm really doing it for your own good!"

Looking at the familiar yet unfamiliar face in front of him, Charles clenched his teeth and pulled the trigger on his heart.

Faced with this kind of injury, Di Pu still refused to let go, staring at Charles with pleading eyes. "Captain... you trust me..."

"Get out of here!!" Charles' prosthetic leg hit him in the face like a giant hammer, his knees retracted and stared, and the distance between the two of them was separated in mid-air.

"Ka Ka Ka" Charles' anchor was nailed to the hull of the ship, leading him back quickly. By the time Dipper fell into the water, the Narwhal had already gone.

Just when Charles thought that this crisis was about to pass, the foam of black dirt rolled at the front of the ship, and a humanoid creature with tentacles on its face rose from the foam and floated on the surface of the sea.

"Lily!! Give him a shot!!" Charles shouted.

"Boom boom boom!!" The cannons rang out repeatedly, and as several water jets exploded on the sea surface, the last shell hit the thing.

The black smoke dissipated quickly, and the creature was unscathed.

Charles' pupils shrank to the extreme in an instant. "How is it possible!! What is this thing made of! It doesn't even work with shells!?"

At this moment, the octopus head raised its dirty, mucus-stained fingers and pointed at Charles's bow.

Nothing happened, but everyone on board felt something suffocating.

Just when the feeling was getting stronger and stronger, it suddenly stopped, and the Narwhal and that thing passed by without any occurrence.

Charles looked into the eyes in the tentacles, always feeling that he was staring at him.

That thing seemed to be their last attack, and the deep divers around them finally started to dive, and they began to retreat.

The Narwhal was still flying at high speed, they didn't know where they were going, but no matter where they were going, it was always right to stay away from the place just now.

Looking at the messy deck, Charles felt a deep sense of loss. He would never have imagined that his former companion would betray him.

Charles took a deep breath to cheer himself up, now is not the time to think about it, his crew still needs him.

The crew began to quickly clean up the battlefield, some organizing supplies and some helping the wounded.

This time the loss was huge, the second engineer died, the third engineer died, one sailor died, and four other crew members were seriously injured. It can be said that almost everyone was injured.

Charles, who was sitting in the captain's cabin, had a gloomy face. He was not sad for the loss of the crew, but was irritable because of another matter.

If there was a possibility of finding their way back before, then after the battle with the deep divers, they have completely lost their way at this time.

Looking at the intricate chart in front of him, Charles really didn't know where the ship was at the moment, and no matter where he went now, it was wrong.

"What can you do?" Charles asked the first officer in front of him with his arms folded.

"Sacrifice..."

Charles sighed, "Let's limit the distribution of fresh water first. We don't want to make such a cruel choice unless we have to. Our crew is running out."

"Perhaps...we...we will take a few... slaves on the ship...all the ships of the Fortan Church...do this..."

Charles bowed his head in silence.

The Narwhal began a long life of wandering at sea, and now they have been heading south, and no one knows where the specific target is.

When the order to reduce fresh water was issued, the crew immediately understood the current situation, and no one objected, silently doing the current task well.

A vague sense of oppression enveloped the sky over the Narwhal. Charles didn't like this feeling, and he felt his head began to ache again.

"Mr. Charles, I'll give you this water." Lily brought a glass of water to Charles who was writing a nautical diary.

"Where did this water come from?" Charles picked up the glass and licked his chapped lips.

"I saved it with everyone. Our mice are thirsty, and the mice can drink the swill in the kitchen."

Charles held Lily in his hands distressedly. He knew that the little girl was just lying to himself. Now that the fresh water is so tight, how could there be slop left in the kitchen.

After he took a sip, he handed the cup to Lily. "I'm not thirsty anymore, you drink."

Lily picked up the cup but didn't drink, and said sadly, "Mr. Charles, are we going to die of thirst? There seems to be only a thin layer left in the water tank."

Charles turned to look at Lily, "Stop talking, just drink the water in the glass."

"Drink, Mr. Charles, I'm not thirsty."

Hearing the hoarseness in Lily's voice, Charles felt a little pain in his heart. He stood up and led Lily towards the kitchen.

When he came to the kitchen, he still had a bucket of water in his hand.

"Mr. Charles, this is sea water. If you drink it, you will die."

"There are ways to make sea water fresh, and maybe we can hold on for a while."
